F.B.I. Searches Home of Founder of Polymarket Betting Website

The Federal Bureau of Investigation recently conducted a search at the home of the founder of a betting website involved in an ongoing criminal investigation. The focus is on whether the betting platform operated unlawfully as an unlicensed commodities exchange, allowing unauthorized U.S. users to place bets despite a previous settlement agreement with the government. During the raid, the F.B.I. seized electronic devices. 

The site gained attention during a notable election for providing betting odds, which were contrary to prevailing polls. Despite a settlement requiring it to cease operations Stateside and a significant penalty fine, reports suggest users found ways to circumvent restrictions. The raid is perceived by some associated with the company as politically motivated.
